A pretty disturbing episode...

Let me get this off of my chest first. Phillip on his underwear is one of the most disturbing images I have ever seen in Survivor. It was gross and deserved to be pixelized. Showing his sagging old body is more inappropriate than whatsername's butt. I am pretty sure she was not wearing a thong.

Phillip was and will be fun to watch. Producers definitely got a new Coach wannabe. I wonder what story he has that will be more outrageous than being caught by a tribe in Brazil. And what's up with the matching undies of Christina and Phillip!

I would also like to point out that the presence of Rob and Russell in the game did not thrill me a bit. They're probably the greatest players in Survivor history but not to me. I liked Rob in Marquesas but everything after that was a torture. It was like he and Amber were the D-list king and queen of reality TV, which was too much in my eyes. I loved Russell in Samoa, but you would realize he had a not-so-smart gameplay during Heroes vs. Villains. I stand by my opinion that Parvati and Cirie should have been put back to the game.

I salute Christina for finding the hidden immunity idol very early on. She has this drive which may be stronger than that of Russell. Of course, Rob is an old school castaway who doesn't really care much about the idol. I would love to see Christina become the female counterpart of Russell. The odds are against her now but wasn't it also the case with Russell two and three seasons ago.

I am really happy that we did not get a lot from the good-looking men and women that the producers may have invited in to make the show have a Gossip Girl feel. This show is meant for the fans and not simply an eye candy.

Rob's reference to Tyson's move in his last season was pretty savvy. That was hilarious.

The tribes' segregation was pretty unfair. They only had 18 castaways and the XX and XY chromosomes in both tribes were unevenly split. I don't want to be a chauvinistic pig but obviously, a tribe with more males would most likely win in a physical challenge (Remember the M vs F challenge in Nicaragua where Chase's decision made his stupidity so apparent?).

That redneck should be corrected. I apologize I forgot his name and I don't really have time to Google it. Last season's winner was sort of a dumbass so another one winning this season may not be an impossibility. Let's give him credit though for making that statement. After all, Fabio's win has not been announced yet when this season was filmed.

The tribal council was a whole lot of fun. Christina and Francesca are definitely two smart women, but getting into an alliance with Phillip was really a bad move. They already knew the man was unstable and yet they told him things, a lot I might say on a first episode. Talking about trust issues. They should have just fed his delusions and let him on and on without having to reveal anything.

I took offense on what Rob said after he voted for Francesca. There was something wrong and arrogant about it.

We only got a tease of Redemption Island on the first episode but I am hoping it will turn up for the better on the next episode.
